The sending device breaks your file into small pieces and displays them one at a time as QR codes, looping forever. The receiving device's camera reads each code as it appears and reassembles the file — the "connection" is just light between a screen and a lens.
Each QR frame can only hold a couple hundred bytes, and there's no server in between — everything travels optically, chunk by chunk. Signed-out transfers are capped at 60 KB to keep the loop fast and the wait reasonable; sign in and there's no size limit, though very large files mean a very long loop. Best for text, contact info, small documents, and other lightweight content.
